NEWS - Forbes’ list, Jesus Luz for Vanity Fair, Lid Cover, French & Saunders…

Monday, April 27th, 2009

With earnings of $110 million in 2008, Madonna topped Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s hardest working mothers, followed by actresses Reese Witherspoon ($24 million), Gwyneth Paltrow ($24 million), Julia Roberts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie and Heidi Klum. She grossed $105 million on her tour, sold nearly a million albums in the United States and signed several lucrative endorsement deals last year. She had an incredible year in 2008. She had the top tour of any musician… said Lauren Streib who helped to compile the list that was released on Friday. Source : Forbes

Excerpts of Jesus Luz’s interview from the italian Vanity Fair translated in English…
When did you meet Madonna?
Steven introduced me to her, during the party at the Fasano Hotel (Rio de Janeiro) after her show.
First impression?
Fun, easy-going, a lot of positive energy.
What do you want to do when you grow up?
Many things. I'd like to produce music too. Electronic music.
Did Madonna suggest it?
I can't answer that.
Does Madonna know you're being interviewed?
She does.
Do you think she will ask you about it?
Uhm.
The Portuguese say amizade colorida for a tender friendship. Are these words that could define your relationship with Madonna?
No colors. It's just a friendship. She's a person in my life, we're connected on many things that we share, like friends do. I’m sorry but how many times are you going to mention Madonna and our relationship during this interview? Three, four times?
[…]
What are you reading at the moment?
Deepak Chopra. I love it. Spirituality is inspiring me.
I can see it, judging by your t-shirt. There's a huge writing: Faith. Where did you buy it?
It's a present.
From Madonna?
He doesn’t answer. But he blushes a little. And, for the record, the t-shirt is by Christian Audigier, manager and stylist for Von Dutch, whose Madonna is rumored to work with for a new clothing line. Source : Vanity Fair Italy

Here’s the latest interesting rumor… Michael Jackson is currently rehearsing his performance of Man in the Mirror for his upcoming This Is It concert series. During the Man in the Mirror performance, a 3D holographic images of people MJ considers evil walk out on stage: Madonna, Hitler, Tom Sneddon (Santa Barbara County D.A.), Tommy Mottola (former head of Sony Records), David Duke, George W. Bush, and some others. They slowly dance as he sings the first verse of the song. Then, Michael presses a button and they all appear to be electrocuted, eventually fading away. They are soon replaced by images of people Mr. Jackson considers saints: Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Taylor, Mahatma Gandhi, and others. These people sing as the choir. Source : Examiner

After winning Bafta's Fellowship, comedy duo French and Saunders joked about Madonna refusing to appear on their show. They revealed backstage that she was the only star who never agreed to feature in one of their shows. It's her loss, that's the way we've looked at it, said French. Jennifer joked: We never used to like doing the show unless we'd actually had a 'no' from Madonna, so we used to insist that they ask her anyway to torture her. Although we're great admirers, of course, French added.. Source : Yahoo! News

Adam&Co. is an award winning creative studio located in Boston, MA. They specialized in the art of design, with branding, packaging and the building of strong identities. The Dieline website recently showed the concepts for Madonna's forthcoming Greatest Hits, possibly named Hits. The project evolved in a different direction but we thought this packaging deserved to see the light of day in some form or fashion! the website writes.

The June 2009 issue of UK music magazine Q features interviews with Leon Robinson from Like A Prayer and Salim 'Slam' Gauwloos from the Vogue video.
Belgian dancer Salim ‘Slam’ Gauwloos reveals…
I first auditioned for her tour with 2 000 other hopefuls. People turned up with flowers and gifts for Madonna, which was weird to me – I just danced. Shooting a video in two days, 16 hours a day, required a lot of focus. [Director] David Fincher told to stand and hit different poses with my body and face. I was ambitious and became frustrated I wasn’t dancing that much and thought, Great – no one’s going to see me. So I was really surprised I got so much focus in the video. After the Tour, Versace asked me to model for their new campaign. I’ve since choreographed and created ballets around the world.
Actor, Leon Robinson played a black Jesus figure in Madonna’s most controversial video. He reveals…
I first said no to the video because I’d fancied myself a serious actor when director Mary Lambert told me she wanted Madonna to adore me, kiss my feet and then I kiss her, I said, I can do that! Madonna and I got on well quite quickly and hung out a lot. She even sent me a gift basket to the set of my newt project. After filming we had to come back weeks later cos Warner thought the statue didn’t look enough like me. So they made a movable mask that shed tears. I honestly didn’t know how controversial the video would be. I played Saint Thomas but the world thought I was supposed to be a black Jesus, and we know what a stir that caused. But I didn’t get any hassle from the public; it was Madonna who got all the criticism. The last time I saw Madonna was at a Grammy party in 2007. Her Behaviour with me was quite strange, but I still have nothing but love for her.

NEWS - Greatest Hits vol.3, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sacha Baron Cohen, and more…

Friday, April 24th, 2009

All the latest news about Madonna - Steven Meisel could be involved in the making of Madonna's upcoming 'GHV3'. It seems that Meisel was hired to create the photoshoot to be used for the album's cover artwork and inside booklet. Madonna and Meisel's latest collaboration was for the 2008 Vanity Fair photoshoot. Some sources say that Madonna is to add a reworked version of her 1987 hit ‘Who’s That Girl’ to this summer’s ‘Sticky & Sweet’ setlist. While ‘The Look Of Love’ was considered as another option, ‘Who’s That Girl’, which she has not performed live since her 1987 world tour, may have won the game - Last messages on Guy Oseary’s Twitter page: Had a good day with Madonna in the studio yesterday. She worked on an amazing dance track with Paul Oakenfold producing - no title yet but will keep you posted. She also started a second one, so we are hoping to have two tracks done this week. Next week she is working with another producer on one more track. Two of these tracks from these sessions will be on the Greatest Hits album. I will try and get her to go on Twitter this week....wish me luck. Paul Oakenfold is running around the studio naked. Because I won't put the air on.. it’s hot in here. But the music is hotter!!!! M. Finally listening to the track! Been waiting and waiting for the right mix.. Another great DANCE track… Flo Rida has offered his support to Madonna following the singer's failed attempt to adopt a second child in Malawi. The rapper, who collaborated with the pop superstar on last year's Hard Candy album, told The Mirror that he was sure that things would work out for her. Flo Rida said: Madonna, you are the Material Girl, so I'm pretty sure in the near future you'll get something that definitely takes place to that. There’s nothing greater than a life. You're a great girl so good things will happen for you. Source: Digital Spy - Here’s what former Spice Girls, Mel B had to say about Madonna’s failed attempt to adopt four-year-old Malawian girl Mercy James. It’s easy for critics to knock celebrities who choose to adopt, but it’s a good thing that Madonna’s doing. Not only is she highlighting the plight of orphans in Africa, she’s also giving this little girl the chance of a better life. Source: List.co.uk - Longtime backing singer Niki Haris, talks about the fallout with Madonna… Maybe there was some drama, but I didn’t buy into it. We were sisters for years. At the end of the day, really she is a gem and I’m so grateful. She threw my baby shower for me! People can talk all the crap they want, but we both knew by that last tour, I had broken my legs, learned how to walk again, how to dance again, and did that tour with really bad injuries. It was okay, but painful. Now, I was 41 and pregnant... Of course, my ego was involved: ’Oh, she don’t want me no more!’ But at the end of the day, she gave me the greatest gift. Because of her, I got to spend every freaking day with my kid, doing the music I love to do. I’m close to ’the family’ still. She knows I love her and she loves me. About singer Nicki Richards as new backing vocalist. She adds. She can get Niki Two, if she wants to. If they (the fans) want to associate me in the pop world, the gay world, with Madonna ... that’s fine, but when they see me perform, when I do what I do, they know I’m not just here on the wings of Madonna. Though I’m grateful for the time [with her]. It’s on the resume, as they say in jazz. At the end of the day, thank you for the bank account! And if she ever needs more, she knows just how to get it. Source: Baywindows – Just Jared: What was your favorite Madonna concert? Rosie: The last one - I thought it was unbelievable. It was like watching an Olympic event! The fact that she’s 50-years-old and able to look like that and do that, and I remember thinking, oh now is when she’s going to get a costume change, and she wasn’t! She was kept going and going and going and going…and it’s stunning to think of that kind of energy and discipline that she has and is able to continue for years and years. I think she’s absolutely…one of the best entertainers that have ever lived. Source: Just Jared - Madonna was said to be upset at a scene in Bruno’s forthcoming film which mocks her attempts to adopt an African baby. And we hear that Sacha has sent her a bouquet of flowers to apologize. An insider said: Sacha is always out to make great comedy – and if he upsets people along the way, so be it. But when word reached him that Madonna thought his sketch was insensitive, he sent her a bouquet of flowers to say, ‘No hard feelings’. Source: The Mirror
