She posted this blog entry on raisingmalawi.org yesterday:

“My family and I are on our way to Malawi to attend the ground breaking ceremony for Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. The ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. on the future site of the Academy.

Our vision for the school is to empower girls to become Malawi’s future leaders. Our goal is to teach them to challenge themselves, serve their local communities and develop their country. We created this vision in partnership with the local Malawian Ministry of Education, and other educational experts from Malawi, Sub-Sharan African and elsewhere around the world.

We are developing and using innovative educational approaches, cutting-edge architectural design methods, and other modern technologies, which we hope, will become a replicable model for girls secondary school education.

Research proves that young girls throughout the developing world are often left without opportunities to receive a comprehensive education and the benefits that education can provide.

It’s an honor for me to be able to help as many of these girls as I can achieve their dreams.

I’m also incredibly proud of all the projects Raising Malawi is involved in and I look forward to visiting a number of them during my visit.”

And what of her age and retirement, which the media wants to push her into? Madonna sighs deeply:

“Oh, please! Why should there be a time limit on working or giving of yourself? Or on love and looking attractive? Or trying to give back and make a saner world? Look, work isn’t everything, because if it was, I’d never have tried marriage, I never would never have had children. But one set of circumstances does not complete you. Maybe nothing ever does. So you work on your life and you work on your work and you try to live every single day like it’s your last. And you try to be better, to yourself and to others. I don’t always succeed. But I try and it’s my goal.”

During last week's The Wendy Williams Show, Debi Mazar talked about Madonna. During last week’s The Wendy Williams Show, Debi Mazar talked about Madonna. Here is what she said:

One of your best friends is Madonna. How did you meet her?
I used to work at a nightclub for some extra money, in the evening. It was called Danceteria. She would come into the elevator and she was this kinda cute girl, but she had this real presence. She said to me, “Hey, you wanna dance to this song with me?” and I’m like “Yeah.” and I park the elevator, got out on the dancefloor. I was the operator… We just had this… We tore the floor. We had the greatest time and I turned her on to like clubs like Trax and Paradise Garage. We used to have the best time hitting the dance floor.

This was when she was new or practically fresh out of Michigan then?
She hadn’t even got a record yet. She was like, “I’m gonna be a big star one day”, and I’m like “That’s nice.” Who knew?!

Do you call her Madonna or Madge?
Madonna. Never Madge (laughs), no. Her friends don’t call her Madge, they call her M. I call her Madonna. I mean, no-one calls me D.

Over the years there were rumours that you and Madonna weren’t friends anymore. So you are still friends?
Oh God… We’ve always been friends. That’s what always amazes me. I’m like the only friend who really doesn’t kinda of like the publicity-part of our friendship, ’cause she is the biggest popstar in the world. I just don’t like defining it. People have always talked about the fact that, you know, the whole Kabbalah thing. She respects my beliefs, I respect hers and our friendship has always been very deep and… We get into it! We’re both Leo’s, we’re both born in August. We go at it! But, you know, in terms of being friends, we keep it real.Click here...

Madonna is becoming something of a skinflint. She’s certainly not into using her enormous wealth to help those less fortunate, says Roger Friedman. Madonna: Made Over $100 Mil, Gave Only $500K to Charity (by Roger Friedman)

Madonna is becoming something of a skinflint. She’s certainly not into using her enormous wealth to help those less fortunate.

After all that talk of her donating millions to Malawi, here’s the way it boils down thanks to a newly obtained tax filing for her Ray of Light Foundation.

According to Ray of Light’s 2008 Form 990, Ray of Light is now worth over $6 million in assets.

But Madonna gave away a total of $459,000 last year. Forbes, on the other hand, placed her annual take at $110 million and put her at number 3 on its celebrity earners list. Her last tour grossed $280 million.

Ray of Light has cut down to just a handful of charities, too. Madonna gave most of that money to Kabbalah or its associated causes. She sent $231,000 to Raising Malawi, which is a front for the Kabbalah Center; $150,000 to Kabbalah’s Spirituality for Kids; and $53,00o to the Gucci Foundation, which in turn was for Raising Malawi.

Her other two charitable contributions were to Jewish Big Brothers/Sisters of Los Angeles ($10,000) and $15,000 to the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer Research. Ray of Light actually paid more than that in “investment fees” ($37,000). That’s pretty sad.

What this also means is that in the year, 2008, that Madonna was special guest at AmFar’s Cinema Against AIDS in Cannes, the singer donated no money from Ray of Light to that charity or to any other conducting AIDS research.

She doesn’t even give money to MusiCares or the Grammy Foundation. I guess we can scratch her name as a contender for MusiCares’s Person of the Year.

Madonna fares very poorly by comparison with buddies like Rosie O’Donnell and Barbra Streisand, or even Oprah Winfrey. All of them are professional charity donors of the highest rank. And she’s way behind Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Paul Simon, Steven Spielberg, Sting and Trudie Styler’s Rainforest Foundation, and other charitable minded celebs.

INTERVIEW - “Madonna Looks Back”, The Rolling Stone Interview

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009
Madonna gave a wonderful revealing interview to US Magazine Rolling Stone…

“I’ve never been a good judge of what things are going to be huge or not. The songs that I think are the most retarded songs I’ve written, like ‘Cherish’ and ‘Sorry’, a pretty big hit off my last album, end up being the biggest hits. ‘Into the Groove’ is another song I feel retarded singing, but everybody seems to like it.”

“I wanted to work with Eminem. I don’t think he wanted to work with me. Maybe he’s shy.”

“Working on Evita. It’s a whole different singing sensibility. I had to seriously work with a vocal coach.”

Thursday, October 8th, 2009
Latest news on Madonna's Celebration: Guy Oseary, the charts, singels. According to Guy Oseary’s Twitter, Madonna sold over 2 million Celebration albums in only 2 weeks

In the US, Barbra Streisand’s latest record, “Love Is the Answer”opened at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart, ahead of new albums by Mariah Carey, Madonna and Paramore. Madonna’s album Celebration sold 72,000, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard Album Charts.

In Canada, the top 10 is topped by Madonna at No. 1. “Celebration,” came in on top with 17,000 in sales, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

Here are the latest album charts results…

Apparently, Revolver is currently being remixed and maybe will be released as a single, but no sign of a video.

Madonna came in the conversation with the journalist…

Do you still get star-struck sometimes?
FB: Yes, of course. I guess everyone does.

When was the last time?
FB: When I met Madonna for the first time. I met her at her home on Central Park West to talk about working on her Sex book. It was very comfortable but very uncomfortable at the same time, which is a very interesting feeling. She’s very imposing and knows what she wants. She’s very informed and opinionated, which makes her genius. She takes you in and swallows you up—and you don’t mind it, you actually enjoy it. There’s an unspoken seduction that goes on. I was young, She was young, too, and beautiful.

That was an unforgettable era.
FB: Yeah, she put that book out at the best moment. She timed it very well. She knows what she’s doing. And such drive. Some people want to lift stones and see what’s under it. She’ll be on a beach with millions of stones and want to lift every one of them.

And even if the press keeps only one word out of this interview, we think Guy Ritchie is incredibly courageous…

“She’s a manifester, if there ever was one. First-rate manifester. Madonna makes things happen. Put Madonna up against any twenty-three-year-old, she’ll outwork them, outdance them, outperform them. The woman is broad.
And, of course, here you go: I still love her
But she’s retarded, too.”

It’s rocky getting a divorce, innit?
